Horsham Fencing Club
The next beginners course:

21st January 2026

We are always pleased to see new people. If you have never fenced before or you are returning after a break, our 6 week courses give you the opportunity to learn the basics safely and fence against a range of different standards in a welcoming atmosphere. The cost of the course is £80 per person and includes the hire of kit for the 6 weeks.

New to Fencing?

We love to get new people into fencing! We offer Beginners Courses that last for 6 weeks which covers the foundations of fencing and gives you a great taste of the sport. We offer 121’s with our coaches after the course if you join the club which is a great way to improve further with one on one coaching.

As part of the beginners’ course fee, the Club provides equipment for the duration of the course so you do not need to invest in anything other than socks and sports shoes until you are sure that the sport is for you.

After the course you may continue to rent the kit from the club for a small fee. We also offer the option for members to purchase kit from the club at reduced rates. Additionally we offer team discounts from all major fencing kit vendors.

Fencing is great for fitness, stress relief (!), and mental agility… it is like playing chess at lightning speed! It suits all ages and makes no distinction between gender, age or physical size.

Our Club fences Epee: the original duelling weapon where whoever hits first wins the point. We consider Epee fencing to be the purest form of Fencing there is, although we are obviously biased. We use electrical equipment to register hits so there is no requirement for a match referee and no arguments.

Fencing sessions at the Club are good exercise, competitive and fun. We are very much a social club, but do hold internal competitions geared to suit fencers of all abilities.
