Why this course exists

Fencing has been male-dominated for most of its history. Not because women aren’t suited to it, quite the opposite, but simply because the opportunities haven’t always been there.

That’s what this course is about. Thanks to funding from Sport England and the National Lottery, we’re opening the doors specifically for women and girls in Horsham who’ve never had the chance to try fencing before. Six weeks, expert coaching, all kit provided – and no cost to you.

We’ve seen first-hand what happens when women get into this sport. They take to it fast, they love the tactical challenge, and they rarely want to stop. This course exists to make sure more of them get the chance.

let's get women into fencing

Six weeks. All kit provided. No experience needed.

Each session builds on the last, footwork, blade work, distance, timing, until it all clicks and you’re fencing for real. Our coaches keep things moving at a pace that works for you, so nobody gets left behind and nobody gets bored.

Bring nothing but socks and sports shoes. We provide everything else for the full six weeks. If you fall in love with it (and most people do), you can rent kit from the club afterwards for a small fee, buy through us at reduced rates, or use our team discounts with the major kit vendors.

Fencing is faster than it looks and more tactical than most people expect. It’s been called chess at lightning speed, and once you’ve played your first real bout, you’ll understand why. It suits every age, every body type, and every fitness level.

We fence Épée: the original duelling weapon, where whoever hits first wins the point. Electrical scoring equipment means no referee, no disputed calls, and no arguments. Just fencing.
